NEW MOUNTING
CHOICES
(ROCHESTER, NH, USA--May 18, 2001) Web machine builders, press
builders and converters looking to improve a machine's performance have
for a long-time had the option of adding tension transducers or load cells
to existing idler rolls in the web path. The tension-sensing rolls
in conjunction with indication or control electronics allow a machine operator
greater control of web tension in the process and therefore greater control
of finished roll and output quality. While the addition of tension transducers to a machine's web path is
usually a sensible, low-cost upgrade, and nothing new to industry--DFE
recently shipped their 40,000th Model C tension transducer--the engineering
and machining required to prep both sides of the machine frame for a fresh
roll-shaft transducer installation is not always simple or convenient.
That's why Dover Flexo Electronics, Inc (DFE), at the suggestion of customers,
has added two new, optional mounting styles to the Model C line of Tension
Transducers, both of which can take advantage The space-saving Through-Frame (TF) mounting option is designed
of aluminum for use with the Model C2 Dead-shaft transducer. A transducer
housing sleeve lets the base of the transducer fit neatly into a standard
72 mm (2.835") bored hole in the machine wall. The base is then clampled
outside the wall with a clamping-flange The TF option allows the idler-shaft
end to fit closer to the machine frame and offers greater roll length accomodation
than a standard transducer mounting style. (See photo.)
