  NWI NARROW WEB TENSION TRANSDUCER

(ROCHESTER, NH, USA-September18, 2001) Dover Flexo Electronics, Inc. (DFE) announces the release of the NWI Narrow Web Tension Transducer, a cantilevered, bearing-mounted idler roller with two built-in tension sensing elements. The NWI transducer is offered with an optional digital LED tension display to read out tension at the roll end.

The transducer with indicator was designed for monitoring process tension on narrow web printing presses and converting machinery. Having the tension display directly on the roll end is convenient for the machine operator who can make control adjustments if web tension runs outside acceptable limits.

"After several of our narrow-web printer customers suggested we add indication electronics to DFE's standard Narrow Web tension transducer roll, our engineering team developed an elegant, yet low-cost design for accurate tension read-out on the Narrow Web transducer's roll end," comments Glyn Green, DFE's Technical Support Manager.

The NWI transducer with indicator option comes with its own 115/ 230Vac power supply. The power supply module includes a 0 - 10Vdc output with terminal block for wiring the output to a drive, PLC or other device.

The Narrow Web Tension Transducer is available in eight standard roll face widths ranging from 7 to 20 inches (178 - 508mm) and load ratings from 12 to 100 lbs (55 - 450N). The transducer mounts easily to the machine frame, anywhere in the web path, with a single bolt or mounting flange.
